Director: Joss Whedon

Joss WhedonJoss Whedon is known just as well for his television work as his films. In the 90s he helmed a popular franchise with several spin-offs across various media. Later he would write and direct several television shows that were incredibly well received by fans and critics, but each canceled by their networks after a single season. He has become notorious for these controversial cancelations.

Whedon identifies himself as an atheist, feminist, and humanist. To one degree or another, these themes can be found via the characters all throughout his work. Feminism is an especially frequent theme, which may be due in part to his ability to write complex and memorable characters. Whedon is also well known for his unique dialogue, giving even further detail and distinctiveness to the characters in his work.
