Director: David Cronenberg

David CronenbergCronenberg is a Canadian filmmaker and screenwriter. He is well regarded as one of the masters of the body horror genre, if not credited for flat out inventing it. This particular subgenre explores people’s fears of sexuality, bodily transformation, and outright infection.

In his films, the psychological is typically intertwined with the physical. In the first half of his career, he explored these themes mostly through horror and science fiction, although his work has since expanded beyond these genres. While many directors become more subtle with their later films, Cronenberg is surprisingly just as effective no matter what his method.
